What You Learn About Life When Baking a Cake

Have you ever wondered why some things you wished for actually came true & others did not?

Yep, that’s right. Manifesting is todays topic.
Never heard that term before?

No problem. I’ll explain it to you in the most fun way thinkable.

Using the analogy of baking a cake! Isn’t that fantastic?!

I believe that all my life I have been on what I would describe today as a spiritual journey. Learning about myself, life and universal forces. About two years ago I started reflecting more consciously on my thoughts, feelings and actions in the different areas of my life. I started to look at myself from different angles and make decisions more aware of the effects they had on my own well-being and my surroundings.

The first time I remember realizing there was this path that was mine to walk was when I first listened to Laura Malina Seiler’s Podcast called “Happy, Holy & Confident”. I randomly landed on this episode in which she talked about how women insult and shame their own body when looking in the mirror.

I realized this was something I had also been doing since my teenage years. In that moment I decided to no longer treat myself that way and to create a new self image.

Realizing that I create my own reality, was the most liberating experience I have ever had.

In 2017 Laura published her first book called “Mögest du glücklich sein” which translates to “May you be happy”.

This book still today gives me so much joy & hope. It’s the book that changed my life for the better in the most fundamental way thinkable.

Ok. Long story short. What I actually wanted to talk about was cake right?

In the third last chapters of her book she talks about manifesting. She compares manifesting to the process of baking a cake.

Manifesting Is like Baking a Cake

If you want to achieve a certain goal or bring something into existence you must follow certain steps. Those are the same steps you follow when baking a cake.

The Steps are:

  1. Choose a recipe
  2. Clean up kitchen and prepare workspace
  3. Anticipate and get ingredients ready
  4. Bake
  5. Wait, be patient and trust

Ok. And how do I make use of these 5 steps?

Here’s an example:

  1. Choose a recipe
First I find out what I truly want to bring into existence. In my case (a few weeks ago) the recipe was the wish to create a blog. The cake I wanted to bake was the blog.
  2. Clean up kitchen and prepare workspace
I had to be completely honest and ask myself what I truly did and did not need in order to realize what I had envisioned. Then I cleaned out my mind. Got rid of all the thoughts and emotions that were hindering me from believing that I could do it. I also got rid of some material things and made space in my time schedule for my project.
  3. Anticipate and get ingredients ready
I raised my energy by visualizing how my blog and blog posts would look like and how much fun I would have while creating. The ingredient I needed in order to “bake” the blog was knowledge. So I watched a bunch of YouTube videos, listened to podcasts and took a look at other blogs.
  4. Bake
I actually did it! And I did it step by step. I bought a domain, launched my site and started creating content.
  5. Wait, be patient and trust:
I practice gratitude for the success I will have and trust that it will happen as I imagined or even better.
Here’s an other cake quote to think about 😉

Was this post completely different from what you expected?

Did it feel very personal to you?

Well, to me it did. I have never so publicly talked about something as personal as my spiritual path. What made me do it anyway was the idea that it just might resonate with a thought that has been on your mind.

Looking at a seemingly abstract method like manifesting in the kitchen hopefully was helpful in understanding how it works.

Got a project on your mind? Try out this approach and let me know how it went.

I’d be so happy to hear about your experience. Leave a comment & let’s chat.

Say yes to life. Say yes to cake. Manifest that cake!

Oh. BTW.. Next up is of course…

How else could it be!? A cake recipe!
