Peanut butter chocolate snickers smoothie

Finally, the day has come! Today I am sharing with you my version of the vegan peanut butter chocolate snickers smoothie. I have worked and experimented on this recipe for quite a while and am very excited to be sharing it with you.

I have to be honest though: This is not the healthiest smoothie I’ve ever made. But! All ingredients are 100% natural, the recipe doesn’t include any refined sugar, and on top of all that, this peanut butter chocolate snickers smoothie is ready to taste in only 5 minutes!

Self-made peanut butter? Easy!

Have you ever made your own peanut butter? No? I will explain how you can make your own peanut butter in a very simple way. You only need 2 ingredients: Peanuts, and a blender. Best case, you have a high-performance blender or a food processor at hand. Personally, I use my beloved Mouli (Moulinex i-Companion xl). This one is a true allrounder, a kitchen machine with cooking function. If you don’t have a high-performance blender at hand, a regular hand blender will work just fine, it will just take a little more time.

Natural unsweetened peanut butter isn’t available in every supermarket, and the self-made version is also a lot cheaper.

I usually buy one big pack of salted and roasted peanuts in the supermarket. They are cheaper than the unsalted ones (btw., you can get unsalted and non-roasted peanuts for raw peanut butter at the Asia- or Africa shop). As a next step, I pour the peanuts into a sieve and shake them thoroughly above my sink to get rid of the salt (note that I’m doing this dry, without adding any water!). After this, I put the peanuts into a kitchen towel and rub off the salt as thoroughly as possible. Now I put the peanuts into my Mouli and blend them on the highest setting for about 3 minutes, and there you go: I now have self-made peanut butter!

Frozen bananas: Always in stock in the freezer

Frozen bananas are amazing for a lot of super yummy desserts like nicecream, smoothie bowls and milkshakes. My latest recipe is strawberry-banana nicecream, made from frozen bananas and strawberries. Watch how I usually freeze my bananas in the recipe video on my Youtube channel.

The recipe for the very best peanut-chocolate snickers smoothie/ milkshake

Here in this recipe I have included all the settings I’ve used for the Mouli. If you have a different blender, you should use the highest setting and check in after each step to make sure your smoothie has got a nice, creamy consistency.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Course drink, smoothie, vegan
Servings 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 Medijool dates approx. 35g
  • 250 ml plant drink best: half oatmilk, half soy or almond milk
  • 60 g peanut butter salted (add 2 pinches of salt when using unsalted peanuts)
  • 150 g frozen bananas
  • 2 tbs cocoa powder approx. 20g
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence or 1/4 tsp vanilla mark powder
  • 8-10 ice cubes

Instructions

  • 1 Puree the dates, plant drinks and the peanut butter in a blender until they reach a creamy consistency (Moulinex i-Companion xl settings: grind and kneading knife, level 12 for 1 minute).
  • 2 Add the frozen bananas, cocoa powder and vanilla and blend for another minute with the same settings as in the first step.
  • 3 Depending on the ability of your used blender, add the ice cubes (if your blender can't blend ice cubes, just add a little bit more water until you've reached the desired consistency). (Moulinex i-Companion xl settings: use the same settings as above, but only blend for 30 seconds)

Notes

Tip: If you make your self-made peanut butter as the first step, you can simply add all the other ingredients without having to clean the blender in between steps.
